Proof Interpretations and Majorizability

چکیده
In the last fifteen years, the traditional proof interpretations of modified realizability and functional (dialectica) interpretation in finite-type arithmetic have been adapted by taking into account majorizability considerations. One of such adaptations, the monotone functional interpretation of Ulrich Kohlenbach, has been at the center of a vigorous program in applied proof theory dubbed proof mining. We discuss some of the traditional and majorizability interpretations, including the recent bounded interpretations, and focus on the main theoretical techniques behind proof mining.

A most artistic package of a jumble of ideas
In the course of ten short sections, we comment on Gödel’s seminal “Dialectica” paper of fifty years ago and its aftermath. We start by suggesting that Gödel’s use of functionals of finite type is yet another instance of the realistic attitude of Gödel towards mathematics and in tune with his defense of the postulation of ever increasing higher types in foundational studies. We also make some o...
متن کاملFormalizing Monotone Algebras for Certification of Termination and Complexity Proofs
Monotone algebras are frequently used to generate reduction orders in automated termination and complexity proofs. To be able to certify these proofs, we formalized several kinds of interpretations in the proof assistant Isabelle/HOL. We report on our integration of matrix interpretations, arctic interpretations, and nonlinear polynomial interpretations over various domains, including the reals.
متن کاملNonstandardness and the bounded functional interpretation
The bounded functional interpretation of arithmetic in all finite types is able to interpret principles like weak König’s lemma without the need of any form of bar recursion. This interpretation requires the use of intensional (rule-governed) majorizability relations. This is a somewhat unusual feature. The main purpose of this paper is to show that if the base domain of the natural numbers is ...
متن کاملAn Epistemological Study of the Verse Tathir
The verse Tathir is regarded as one of the central verses in proving the infallibility of the Prophet and his future generation`s properties that have long been debated among the Fariqain commentators. The Sunni commentators, without any reasonable proof and only based on the context and etymology of the word al-bait, the house, have viewed all members of Quraysh in the Prophet's House, and in ...
متن کاملRevised Proof of the Uniqueness Theorem for “No Collapse” Interpretations of Quantum Mechanics
We show that the Bub-Clifton uniqueness theorem for ‘no collapse’ interpretations of quantum mechanics (1996) can be proved without the ‘weak separability’ assumption. Bub and Clifton (1996) proved a uniqueness theorem for ‘no collapse’ interpretations of quantum mechanics. The proof was repeated, with minor modifications, in (Bub, 1997). The original proof involved a ‘weak separability’ assump...
